At D center @ NAM: WEST BALTIMORE IN-PROGRESS

D center @ NAM: WEST BALTIMORE IN-PROGRESS

1-5pm Thursday 14 March 2013 | 16 W. North Ave, Baltimore MD 21201

Please join Jack Sullivan and his students for WEST BALTIMORE IN-PROGRESS, studies investigating the many questions and issues of environmental design in the urban context. These works were conducted as a collaborative effort between the landscape architecture graduate students, the instructor, professionals in practice, and representatives from local government non-profit agencies. Our goal is to understand, appreciate, and re-create city places and neighborhoods —as they were, how they exist, and what they can become in the 21 st century. In order to do this well, we need to learn how poets and prophets—as well as pragmatists and profiteers—have expressed their visions for the city and how we can propose improvements to the quality of urban life.

Most of these artists work with characters, the face and body are used almost as a template—-a solid structure to build wild expression upon.

Each artist in this show will present a selection of works on paper. This opening also serves as a kick-off party for Open Space’s Publications and Multiples Fair held March 9th and 10th at the D Center.
